  1. I learn that lateral thinking is a problem solving through an indirect approach by using creativity .  Involving ideas that requires step by step logic as the answer may not obvious.

Class Exercise 2

Unusual and Usual

There was a class exercise on Unusual and usual.

Exercise 2 : Imagine this room : the window at the back was open. In front there is a table with a vase, in which a fresh rose stands. A painting of flowers hangs on the opposite wall ( at the white board area). A bee flies into the room through the open window, straight to the painting and not the rose? why?
We were ask to do in our own group and this is what is unusual and usual about the scenario.

Solutions

Usual:

  1. The bee is starving.
  2. The bee is blind.
  3. The painting is very realistic.
  4. The bee flew too fast.
Unusual :
  1. The bee is drunk
  2. The bee is a spying camera
  3. The bee is dumb
  4. The painting is made of honey
  5. The bee was thrown by someone.

This is what I think through the scenario:
  • The bee could be a male and attracted to the female bee which was painted on the painting.
  • There could be also be a suitable place for the bee to start a home there as the painting was the attraction.

Mind mapping is a diagram that are used to virtually organized information . It is also effectively used to get information in and out of your brain.
Mind mapping is often created by a single concept of word in helping people visualise that there are a lot of ideas as ideas are connected directly to the central concept which can be branch out.

Mind mapping can be base on a single word factor or a few words.

Video Summary and Reflection

http://www.businesspundit.com/ted-talks-for-entrepreneurs/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Fadell

TED talks are famous for embodying "ideas worth sharing" that are entrepreneurial to the core, now they are self-hosting TED talks around the country, and with thousands of videos on almost any conceivable subject on their website. I watched a few videos of "TED Talks" which talks about creativity, the spark that ignite ideas and even the simplest things around us can become part of a design.

Tony Fadell : The secret of design is noticing

After watching the video on " Tony Fadell : The secret of design is noticing". I feel that we can learn so many things through our daily life as artist; designers and many more through observing surroundings and even take a closer look in the things we do, through our daily life.

This are the three things I would want to learn and remember after watching the video

" Think broader: take a step back and look at everything. Can something be removed or combined?

Look closer: look at the details, are they important? Or is it the way it’s always been done?

Think younger: Have young people on your team, or people with young minds. Look at things as a beginner would. " - Tony Fadell

Asking ourself " why? and how? " to create the process of creativity
Other videos such as Isaac Mizrahi - fashion and Creativity taught me that the little things that we observe around our daily surrounding can help us designers to create new ideas.

There are many videos in TED talks that be an inspiration to me but this two videos taught me a lot things which impact my views of daily life things in creating many more new ideas from the question asked from a child till now.

We need to achieve different set of skills  because it’s part of our life, as in how we learn things and it is also how design has affected the past, present and will affect the future.

Brainstorming!

http://www.clixmarketing.com/blog/2015/06/18/why-good-old-fashioned-brainstorming-is-important-in-ppc/

Brain Storming is by an individual or a group to create ideas for that specific objective.

For example, this is an egg project that my group mates and I had to do in protecting an egg by not breaking from a dropping from a great high. Materials that are used are straws, plastic cups and threads.

" Brainstorming " is to generate ideas through classes, meetings and group work by using creativity technique and efforts from the each individuals. People use brainstorming in groups to solve all kinds of  problems.

For example, my group and I had to pick out of the 15 questions that had given to us to work with. We picked " use of wood "so we had to create 101 ideas based on use of wood

This is the 20 most creative ideas out of the 101 ideas that we had to pick.

Breaking The Rules!

"Breaking the Rules" to me means that not following the rules and regulations or not doing things that are not supposed to do/ against the norm.

I like this quote from Picasso because it is how artist communicates to their audience about their artworks.

Charli XCX-Breaking The Rules
For Charli XCX 's Breaking the Rules is not obeying the school rules not going to school. As she sings "I don't wanna go to school " " i just wanna break the rules"

This are some pictures of "Breaking The Rules" I found from Google.com

Therefore, " Breaking The Rules" is not following the rules against it norm, but bending it to use it at your own pace of life, that's what I think of when it comes to " Breaking The Rules". In Art, there is no such in rules, but how you can make the rules in your own style.
